Aim of the project: The Vodafone Group R&D M2M Programme is keen to establish how well current mobile device technology and techniques are optimised towards minimising power consumption and also what and how energy harvesting technologies and techniques can be applied to remote M2M devices to augment their battery power supply.
Typical areas of work are expected to include:
- desk based research
- general analysis & planning
- system engineering
- measurement
- business requirements analysis
- interfacing to external third parties
- demonstration/prototype
- conclusions and recommendations
Main deliverables expected of participant during the project :Work breakdown structure and scheduling of the project
- Design of the project
- Progress reports
- Documentation (technical, operational, communications/advertising, support, etc)
- Fully working demo/prototype solution
Key relationships for the delivery of the project: R&D M2M Programme team
- Other members of R&D & Vodafone involved in M2M and/or energy management projects
- External partner(s) collaborating with Vodafone in the area of M2M and especially energy management
- Suppliers of energy harvesting technology, products and solutions/systems
Required technical skills: Mobile network and device technology and operation understanding
- Measurement tools and techniques
- Software engineering (generation would be an advantage)
- Business requirements analysis
